Urban transportation studies, 1937-1979.

Correspondence, memoranda, reports, surveys, and other materials documenting transportation studies conducted by local and regional planning agencies in cooperation with the Dept. of Transportation (DOT). The records contain correspondence between local planning agencies and regional planning commissions and the DOT; DOT internal memoranda concerning the progress of transportation studies; and materials regarding area transportation studies, origin-destination studies, traffic surveys, and state highway planning.

The Highway Commission was created by Chapter 337, Laws of 1911. State Laws of 1929 reorganized the commission from a five person, part-time agency to a three-person, full-time agency.
